Helicosporidium sp. ATCC50920 is a parasite of the black fly Simulium jonesi. Its genome is small and compact with an size estimate of 13Mbp. It shares little gene order conservation with the other green algal genomes, only 30% of the genes located within its ten largest contigs are arrayed in syntenic clusters with those of Chlorella.
