Abstract

This family of plant proteins includes EGG APPARATUS-1 (EA1), which is required for female fertility. It is a small protein involved in short-range signaling required for pollen tube attraction by the female gametophyte. It is exclusively expressed in the egg apparatus [ 1 , 2 ].
