Proteins in this family include AtS40-3 (At4g18980) from Arabidopsis thaliana and HvS40 from barley. HvS40 plays a role in regulation of leaf senescence [ 1 , 2 ]. AtS40-3 is induced during senescence and is also regulated in response to dark treatment, ABA, salicylicacid and pathogen attack [ 3 ].
