Transcription regulatory networks in Caenorhabditis elegans

Gene

Public Gene Name
rpl-3
Sequence Name
F13B10.2
WB ID
WBGene00004414
Description
rpl-3 encodes a large ribosomal subunit L3 protein required in mass RNAi assays for embryonic and larval viability, fertility, and general health; the rpl-3 transcription unit has a nonsense transcript that is up-regulated in vivo by smg[-] mutations, indicating that rpl-3 is a natural substrate for SMG-mediated nonsense suppresssion; several other natural mRNA substrates of SMG suppression (e.g., rpl-7, rpl-10, rpl-12) have protein products that are involved in translation.
