Musa acuminata

Banana (Musa acuminata) domestication started 7000 years ago in Southeast Asia. Currently half of the grown bananas are closes from a single triploid genotype. Due to this lack of genetic diversity bananas have become extremely susceptible for various pests and diseases. The genome was sequenced to allow genetic improvement of banana.
