Abstract
OS9 is conserved among eukaryotes and shows similarities with mannose-6-phosphate receptors (MPRs). Proteins in this family are lectins that functions in endoplasmic reticulum (ER) quality control and ER-associated degradation (ERAD) [ 1 , 2 ]. Proteins in this entry also include endoplasmic reticulum lectin 1 (ERLEC1, also known as XTP3-B), which may function in endoplasmic reticulum quality control and endoplasmic reticulum-associated degradation (ERAD) of both non-glycosylated proteins and glycoproteins [ 3 , 4 ].
1. Yos9 protein is essential for degradation of misfolded glycoproteins and may function as lectin in ERAD. Mol Cell 19, 765-75
2. OS-9 regulates the transit and polyubiquitination of TRPV4 in the endoplasmic reticulum. J. Biol. Chem. 282, 36561-70
3. Human XTP3-B forms an endoplasmic reticulum quality control scaffold with the HRD1-SEL1L ubiquitin ligase complex and BiP. J Biol Chem 283, 20914-24
4. OS-9 and GRP94 deliver mutant alpha1-antitrypsin to the Hrd1-SEL1L ubiquitin ligase complex for ERAD. Nat Cell Biol 10, 272-82
