Abstract
Budding yeast Kti12 associates with Elongator complex, a six-subunit histone acetyltransferase complex that functions with the elongating form of RNA polymerase II during transcription [ 1 ]. It is not a structural subunit but may play a regulatory role in Elongator function [ 2 ]. It has been shown that Kti12 is associated with chromatin throughout the genome, even in non-transcribed regions and in the absence of Elongator [ 3 ]. It is required for an early step in synthesis of 5-methoxycarbonylmethyl (mcm5) and 5-carbamoylmethyl (ncm5) groups present on uridines at the wobble position in tRNA [ 3 ].
