Abstract
The augmin complex regulates gamma-tubulin localization in mitotic spindles, but not at the centrosome. Plant and animal augmin complexes have similar functions in microtubule nucleation and organisation in mitotic microtubule arrays. The Arabidopsis augmin complex contains both conserved and unique subunits compared with its animal counterparts [ 1 ].
There are at least eight AUG subunits in the Arabidopsis augmin complex. This entry represents AUG5 from plants [ 2 ].
1. Characterization of the Arabidopsis augmin complex uncovers its critical function in the assembly of the acentrosomal spindle and phragmoplast microtubule arrays. Plant Cell 24, 1494-509
