Abstract
Rpf2 is a conserved protein essential for the maturation of 25 S rRNA and the 60 S ribosomal subunit assembly [ 1 ]. It is part of the complex (Rpf2/Rrs1/rpL5/rpL11) that functions in intermediate stages of 66S preribosome maturation and assembles into 90S preribosomes containing 35S pre-rRNA [ 2 ].
1. Rpf2p, an evolutionarily conserved protein, interacts with ribosomal protein L11 and is essential for the processing of 27 SB Pre-rRNA to 25 S rRNA and the 60 S ribosomal subunit assembly in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. J. Biol. Chem. 277, 28780-6
2. Assembly factors Rpf2 and Rrs1 recruit 5S rRNA and ribosomal proteins rpL5 and rpL11 into nascent ribosomes. Genes Dev. 21, 2580-92
