Abstract

Pre-rRNA-processing protein Esf1 is required for the biogenesis of 18S rRNA in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. It has a role in early pre-rRNA processing because it associates with U3 and U14 snoRNAs but not the SSU processome [ 1 ]. Homologues are found in other fungi, animals and plants.
