Abstract

Glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI) is used as a membrane anchor by many eukaryotic cell-surface proteins. Mammalian PIG-L and its yeast homologue Gpi12 are N-acetylglucosaminyl-phosphatidylinositol de-N-acetylases involved in the second step of GPI biosynthesis [ 1 ].
