Abstract
This domain is found in structure-specific recognition protein SSRP1 (POB3 in yeast) and related proteins, which are components of the FACT complex - a general chromatin factor that acts to reorganise nucleosomes. The FACT complex is involved in multiple processes that require DNA as a template such as mRNA elongation, DNA replication and DNA repair [ 1 , 2 ]. During transcription elongation the FACT complex acts as a histone chaperone that both destabilises and restores nucleosomal structure [ 3 , 4 ].
This domain has a Pleckstrin homology fold, made of 6 beta strands.
