Abstract

The PUB (also known as PUG) domain is found in peptide N-glycanase where it functions as a AAA ATPase binding domain [ 1 ]. This domain is also found on other proteins linked to the ubiquitin-proteasome system.

The PUB domain has alpha(2)-beta-alpha(2)-beta(2)-alpha fold. It is composed of a cluster of helices with a small antiparallel beta-sheet on one side. It presents topological similarity to the fold of an extended R3H domain.

1. The PUB domain functions as a p97 binding module in human peptide N-glycanase. J. Biol. Chem. 281, 25502-8
