Abstract
This entry represents non-ATPase regulatory subunit 14 of the 26S proteasome (gene name PSMD14, Rpn11 or POH1), a component of the 19S cap [ 1 ]. PSMD14 is a metallopeptidase and a deubiquitinating hydrolase (MEROPS identifier M67.001), releasing 'Lys-63'-linked polyubiquitin chains from the polyubiquitinated protein substrates of the proteasome [ 2 , 3 , 4 ]. PSMD14 also processes polyubiquitin from conjugates generated as a response to double-strand DNA breaks [ 5 ].
