Abstract

This entry represents subunit beta 7 of the constitutive proteasome (MEROPS identifier T01.011). This subunit, when processed, is an endopeptidase with threonine as an N-terminal nucleophile, and a preference for cleavage of lysyl and arginyl bonds in proteins and is therefore described as "trypsin-like" [ 1 ]. This subunit is known as PUP1 or beta 2 in Saccharomyces cerevisiae [ 2 , 3 ].
