Abstract

SOMBRERO (SMB) is a transcription factor that controls root cap development. It inhibits expression of its positive regulator FEZ in a feedback loop for controlled switches in the cell division plane. It promotes the expression of genes involved in secondary cell wall (SCW) biosynthesis [ 1 ].
