Abstract
This entry includes Cmr1 from fungi and WDR76 (WD repeat-containing protein 76) from animals. Cmr1 is a DNA-binding protein that binds to both single- and double-stranded DNA. It shows higher affinity to UV-damaged DNA substrates and is involved in the response to DNA replication stress in yeast [ 1 , 2 ]. Similar to Cmr1, WDR76 plays a role in the recovery from genotoxic stress through regulation of the turnover of sumoylated and phosphorylated proteins [ 3 ].
