This entry represents a domain found C-terminal in some aspartic proteinases and in xylanase inhibitors. The N- and C-termini of xylanase inhibitor proteins are join to create the catalytic pocket necessary for cleaving xylanase. Phytopathogens produce xylanase that destroys plant cells, so its destruction through proteolysis is vital for plant-survival [ 1 , 2 , 3 ].
