Abstract

Lazarus 1 (LAZ1) is a six transmembrane protein with structural similarities to the human tumour suppressor TMEM34. It functions as a regulator or effector of programmed cell death (PCD) associated with the hypersensitive response (HR) in plants, a defensive response elicited via recognition of a pathogen by host resistance proteins [ 1 ].
