Abstract
ATP-binding cassette subfamily A member 7 (ABCA7) belongs to the ABC transporter family, whose remembers are full-length transporters organised in two tandem halves, each with a hydrophobic TMD followed by a cytoplasmic NBD [ 1 ].
In macrophages, ABCA7 functions in phagocytosis and can be stabilised by HDL (high-density lipoprotein) apolipoproteins [ 2 ]. ABCA7 has been linked to Alzheimer's disease pathogenesis [ 3 , 4 ]. It is also linked to Sjogrens syndrome, a chronic autoimmune disease characterised by the sicca symptoms of dry eyes and dry mouth [ 5 , 6 ].
