Abstract
Actin-related protein 6 (Arp6) is a nuclear actin-related protein conserved from yeast to vertebrates. Vertebrate Arp6 interacts with heterochromatin protein 1 (HP1). Yeast Arp6 is involved in telomere silencing, while Drosophila Arp6 is localised in the pericentric heterochromatin [ 1 ].
The actin family consists of conventional actin and actin-related proteins (ARPs). ARPs are predominantly localised in the nucleus, where they are involved not only in chromatin remodeling, but also affect the spatial organisation of the nucleus [ 2 ].
