Abstract
Trichome birefringence-like (TBL) proteins are proposed to encode wall poly-saccharide specific O-acetyltransferases based on the existing data for some members of the TBL family: altered xyloglucan 4 (AXY4/TBL270) and altered xyloglucan 4-like (AXY4L/TBL22), two xyloglucan specific O-acetyltransferases in non-seed tissues and seeds, respectively [ 1 , 2 ].
This entry represents the PMR5 protein, also known as protein trichome birefringence-like 44 (TBL44). PMR5 is thought to be involved in pectin methyl esterification or O-acetylation [ 3 ]. It is involved in non-host resistance (NHR) or plant immunity to non-adapted pathogen species [ 4 ].
