This family consists of several Rab5-interacting proteins, such as C20orf24 and EMC6. Rab5-Interacting Protein (C20orf24) may function on endocytic vesicles as a receptor for Rab5-GDP and participate in the activation of Rab5 [ 1 ]. ER membrane protein complex subunit 6 (EMC6) is a novel endoplasmic reticulum (ER)-localised transmembrane protein that interacts with both Rab5A and BECN1/Beclin 1. It has been shown to regulate autophagosome formation [ 2 ].
