Abstract
Tim50 is an essential component of the TIM23 complex, a complex that mediates the translocation of transit peptide-containing proteins across the mitochondrial inner membrane [ 1 , 2 ]. Tim50 is anchored to the inner mitochondrial membrane with its C-terminal domain exposed in the intermembrane space [ 3 ]. Tim50 is important for both mitochondrial function and early neuronal development in humans [ 4 ].
