Abstract
The AP-3 complex functions in cargo-selective protein transport from the Golgi to the vacuole/lysosome [ 1 ]. It is an adapter-related complex which is thought not to be clathrin-associated. The AP-3 complex facilitates the budding of vesicles from the Golgi membrane and may be directly involved in trafficking to the vacuole. It is required for the transport via the ALP pathway [ 2 ]. In neurons, AP-3 generates synaptic vesicles or vesicles carrying synaptic vesicle membrane proteins [ 3 ].
This entry represents the beta subunit of the AP-3 complex.
