This is a family of ceramide beta-glucosyltransferases ( 2.4.1.80 ), which catalyse the transfer of glucose to ceramide, the first glycosylation step in glycosphingolipid biosynthesis [ 1 , 2 ]. They belong to the glycosyl transferase family 21.
