Abstract

Peroxiredoxins are a family of ubiquitous proteins found in all kingdoms of life. They are important for antioxidant defence and, in eukaryotes, participate in redox signalling [ 1 ].

This family includes alkyl hydroperoxide reductase subunit C (AphC) from bacteria [ 2 ], and peroxiredoxins 1 (PRDX1), 2 (PRDX2), 4 (PRDX4) and 6 (PRDX6).
