Abstract
This superfamily represents a domain which consists of a 3-layer (alpha/beta/alpha) sandwich, and it is found in the enzymes 1D-myo-inositol 2-acetamido-2-deoxy-alpha-D-glucopyranoside deacetylase and N-acetylglucosaminyl-phosphatidylinositol de-N-acetylase, as well as in uncharacterised putative deacetylases.
1D-myo-inositol 2-acetamido-2-deoxy-alpha-D-glucopyranoside deacetylase ( 3.5.1.103 ) catalyzes the deacetylation of 1D-myo-inositol 2-acetamido-2-deoxy-alpha-D-glucopyranoside (GlcNAc-Ins) in the mycothiol biosynthesis pathway [ 1 ]. N-acetylglucosaminyl-phosphatidylinositol de-N-acetylase, ( 3.5.1.89 ) catalyses the second step in glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI) biosynthesis [ 2 ].
