Abstract

This group represents threonine aldolases (EC 4.1.2.5) which catalyze the conversion of L-threonine or L-allo-threonine into glycine and acetaldehyde. Pyridoxal 5'-phosphate is a co-factor in the reaction [ 1 ]. The entry also includes L-allo-threonine aldolase which acts on L-allo-threonine but not L-threonine or L-serine [ 2 ].
