VCP/p97 or Cdc48 is a eukaryotic ATPase involved in membrane fusion, protein transport, and protein degradation. Ubx2 interacts with Cdc48 in fission yeast [ 1 ]. UBXN7 is a ubiquitin-binding adapter that links a subset of NEDD8-associated cullin ring ligases (CRLs) to VCP/p97 to regulate turnover of their ubiquitination substrates [ 2 ].
