Abstract
METTL16 is an U6 snRNA methyltransferase that methylates adenosine residues of a subset of RNAs. It plays a key role in S-adenosyl-L-methionine homeostasis by regulating expression of MAT2A transcripts [ 1 ].
This entry also includes PsiM from Psilocybe cubensis. PsiM is part of the gene cluster that mediates the biosynthesis of psilocybin, a psychotropic tryptamine-derived natural product. It serves as a methyltransferase that catalyze iterative N-methyl transfer as the terminal biosynthetic step [ 2 ].
