InterPro domain: IPR016255

General Information

  • Identifier IPR016255
  • Description eIF-2-alpha kinase Gcn2

Abstract

This entry represents Gcn2, a protein kinase that regulates the G1/S cell cycle checkpoint in response to DNA damage [ 1 , 2 ]. It stimulates Gcn4 translation in amino acid-starved cells by phosphorylating the alpha subunit of eIF-2 (SUI2) on 'Ser-52' [ 3 ]. This entry also includes the probable serine/threonine-protein kinases ifkB and ifkC from Dictyostelium discoideum .
