InterPro domain: IPR015895

General Information

  • Identifier IPR015895
  • Description Glutamyl-tRNA reductase, N-terminal

Abstract

This entry represents the N-terminal domain of glutamyl-tRNA reductase ( 1.2.1.70 ), which reduces glutamyl-tRNA to glutamate-1-semialdehyde during the first stage of tetrapyrrole biosynthesis by the C5 pathway [ 1 , 2 ]. The enzyme requires NADPH as a cofactor. This N-terminal domain is the catalytic domain [ 3 ].
