Abstract
The phosphoenolpyruvate-dependent sugar phosphotransferase system (PTS), a major carbohydrate active-transport system, catalyses the phosphorylation of incoming sugar substrates concomitant with their translocation across the cell membrane.
This family represents the IIC component of the PTS galactitol-specific family. Gat family PTS systems typically have 3 components: IIA, IIB and IIC [ 1 ].
