Abstract

This entry represents the NADH dependent nitrate reductase (NR) from plants and fungi, including NIA1 and NIA2 from Arabidopsis. They contain an N-terminal oxidoreductase molybdopterin binding domain and a C-terminal FAD-binding domain. In Arabidopsis, NR-mediated nitric oxide (NO) synthesis is required for ABA-induced stomatal closure [ 1 ]. AtNIA1 is involved in the first step of nitrate assimilation [ 2 , 3 ].
