Abstract
Requiring thioredoxin as an electron donor, phosphoadenosine phosphosulphate reductase catalyzes the reduction of phosphoadenosine phosphosulphate (PAPS) to sulphite and phosphoadenosine phosphate (PAP) [ 1 ]. Found in enterobacteria, cyanobacteria, and yeast, PAPS reductase is related to a group of plant ( IPR004508 ) and bacterial ( IPR011798 ) enzymes preferring 5'-adenylylsulphate (APS) over PAPS as a substrate for reduction to sulphite [ 2 ].

2. Identification of a new class of 5'-adenylylsulfate (APS) reductases from sulfate-assimilating bacteria. J. Bacteriol. 182, 135-42
