Abstract
This entry represents magnesium-protoporphyrin IX methyltransferase ( 2.1.1.11 ). This converts magnesium-protoporphyrin IX to magnesium-protoporphyrin IX metylester using S-adenosyl-L-methionine as a cofactor [ 1 ], which represents the second committed step in the biosynthesis of chlorophyll and bacteriochlorophyll from protoporphyrin IX [ 2 , 2 , 3 ].
