Abstract
GATA transcription factors mediate cell differentiation in a diverse range of tissues. Mutationsare often associated with certain congenital humandisorders. The six classical vertebrate GATA proteins, GATA-1 to GATA-6, are highlyhomologous and have two tandem zinc fingers. The classical GATA transcription factors function astranscription activators. In lower metazoans GATA proteins carry a single canonical zinc finger. Thisentry represents the N-terminal domain of the family of GATA transcription activators.
