Abstract

S1FA is an unusual small plant peptide of only 70 amino acids with a basic domain which contains a nuclear localization signal and a putative DNA binding helix. S1FA is highly conserved between dicotyledonous and monocotyledonous plants and may be a DNA-binding protein that specifically recognises the negative promoter element S1F [ 1 ].
