Abstract

Sec20 is a membrane glycoprotein and a SNARE (soluble N-ethylmaleimide-sensitive factor attachment protein receptor) involved in retrograde transport from the Golgi to the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) [ 1 ]. It is also required for N- and O-glycosylation in the Golgi [ 2 ].

1. The Saccharomyces cerevisiae SEC20 gene encodes a membrane glycoprotein which is sorted by the HDEL retrieval system. EMBO J. 11, 423-32
2. The yeast SEC20 gene is required for N- and O-glycosylation in the Golgi. Evidence that impaired glycosylation does not correlate with the secretory defect. J. Biol. Chem. 276, 28751-8
