Abstract
This entry represents the N-terminal domain of kinetochore protein Nuf2, which is part of the Ndc80 complex. This domain fold as a CH domain consisting of a four-helix bundle containing the parallel helices alphaA, alphaC, alphaE, and alphaG, similar to that in Ndc80. These CH domains from Nuf2 and Ndc80 forms the globular rod at one end the complex [ 1 , 2 ]. The ability of the Ndc80 complex to bind microtubules resides on the tightly packed CH domains from Nuf2 and Ndc80 [ 3 ]. This complex binds to the spindle and is required for chromosome segregation and spindle checkpoint activity [ 3 , 4 , 5 , 6 , 7 , 8 , 9 ].
