Abstract

This is a group of calcium/proton exchanger proteins. In Arabidopsis thaliana CAX1 is responsible for maintaining low cytosolic-free Ca2+ concentrations in the plant cells by catalysing pH gradient-energized vacuolar Ca2+ accumulation [ 1 ].
