- Description
- Encodes HCC1, homologue of the copper chaperone SCO1 (synthesis of cytochrome c oxidase 1) from the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae. SCO1 encodes a mitochondrial protein that is essential for the correct assembly of complex IV in the respiratory chain. HCC1 is localized in the mitochondrion. A chimeric yeast Sco1-Arabidopsis HCC1 protein complements yeast Sco1 activity. Embryos of hcc1 mutants became arrested at various developmental stages, mostly at the heart stage.;electron transport SCO1/SenC family protein
