Abstract
Dehydrins (group 2 late embryogenesis abundant proteins) are plant proteins that are responsive to abiotic stresses such as drought, extreme temperature, and high salinity. This entry includes KS-type dehydrin HIRD11 from Arabidopsis [ 1 ]. AtHIRD11 inhibits the reactive oxygen species (ROS) generation from copper [ 2 ].
1. The Arabidopsis KS-type dehydrin recovers lactate dehydrogenase activity inhibited by copper with the contribution of His residues. Plant Sci. 245, 135-42
2. A KS-type dehydrin and its related domains reduce Cu-promoted radical generation and the histidine residues contribute to the radical-reducing activities. J. Exp. Bot. 64, 1615-24
