Abstract

Intermembrane phospholipid transport system ATP-binding protein MlaF is part of the ABC transporter complex MlaFEDB that maintains lipid asymmetry in the Gram-negative outer membrane [ 1 ]. MlaF is predicted to be nucleotide-binding domain of the complex [ 2 ]. This entry also includes Mkl from Mycobacterium [ 3 ], and Rhodococcus jostii RHA1 protein, ro02744 (UniProt: Q0SD37 ), which is an ATPase orthologous to mceG, the Mlk ATPase gene of M. tuberculosis. It may function in the RHA1 Mce4 system, which has a role in steroid uptake [ 4 ].
