This section includes variability maps for the SSU and LSU rRNA molecules from prokaryotes and eukaryotes. For the moment, 6 2D variability maps are available as well as 3 3D variability maps.
In May 2001, a crystal structure of the Thermus thermophilus ribosome at 5.5Å resolution became available (Yusupov et al., 2001). We combined this data with the variability maps to obtain a 3D variability map for Thermus thermophilus(Wuyts et al., 2001).
