1. The ssu rRNA database

A database on the structure of ssu ribosomal subunit RNA (further abbreviated as ssu rRNA) is being maintained in our research group and made available to the scientific community. This database contains sequences stored in a special distribution format. The database includes indications of secondary structure elements for each sequence, based on the adopted rRNA secondary structure, which in turn is corroborated by the observation of compensating substitutions in the alignment.

Information on the contents of the database is published in the Database Issue of the journal Nucleic Acids Research:

Wuyts, J., Perriere, G. & Van de Peer, Y. (2004)
The European ribosomal RNA database.
Nucleic Acids Res. 32, D101-D103 (Full text access)

Please cite this paper when publishing results obtained by means of this database.

2. The WWW interface

Graphic4 Query: Use a query on author, taxonomy, etc. to select the sequences you need

Graphic5 List with forms interface: obtain the sequences in a number of formats by selecting from a list (LARGE!)

Graphic6 Simple list: select sequences one by one from a list

Any selection of ssu ribosomal subunit rRNA sequences in our database can be easily obtained in a number of formats via the forms or the query interface. The simple list is much more limited in possibilities.

3. Questions or suggestions
